a5c7b9f00b Dr. Alex Cross is on his last police duty to track down an assassin called Picasso, who's been torturing and killing rich businessmen in Detroit. Soon when the mission gets personal, Cross is pushed to the edge of his moral and psychological limits to end this once and for all. After Detroit detective Alex Cross is told that a family member has been murdered, he vows to track down the killer. He soon discovers that she was not his first victim and that things are not what they seem. I'm a big fan and current reader of another James Patterson novel. I must admit though, that in my head, I see Morgan Freeman in the role as I read and was not looking forward to seeing another actor take his place.<br/><br/>I'll further add that I'm English and had no idea who Tyler Perry was before looking him up on IMDb. Having said that I thought he did a pretty good job.<br/><br/>My overall criticism of this movie is that it's just not that good. I know it's rare that a book translates to the screen in the same way but with Patterson on the team I thought it'd work better than this. The books build suspense page after page and you're gripped, on the edge of your seat at every turn, but this movie just 'got things done' asap! Oohhh! someone is murdered, oohhh! someone is in trouble, oohhh the hero's wife is murdered, so we're supposed to care more and then the cop goes 'rogue' against the political Captain's wishes but is saved in the end by his partner 'who knows him better than anyone else'!! Such a shame, James Patterson's books are awesome, however, their translations never are...........! I enjoyed this movie as a thrill seeking exciting journey and found it realistic. This movie moves at a pace that is not too fast or too slow. It is just right. There are enough special effects in the movie to make it interesting. Tyler Perry in this role was different, but he handled it very well. Matthew Fox played a great villain and made you hate him and want him done in. If you have not seen this movie, go to see it with an open mind and I guarantee you will really enjoy it. I also want to comment on the director because the journey he takes the audience on is enjoyable and exciting. The audience will love the ending. This is truly the best of the Alex Cross movies. The sharpest five minutes in Alex Cross, by a considerable margin, belong to Giancarlo Esposito. Yes, this movie is adapted from the novel 'Cross' by James Patterson.
